A research report to highlight the economic impact of house building.
There is a call from the HBF to increase housing building by 100,000 and the report shows the additional economic impact that would have:
- £1.1bn more net capital expenditure
- £13.6bn increase in economic output
- 430,000 extra jobs
- £1.2bn more tax paid
- £432m extra investment in local infrastructure
- £.3.2bn resident spending on goods and services
The study looks at the economic, social and environmental benefits that day-to-day housebuilding generates, and wider benefits that are harder to quantify, such as:
- Re-use of brownfield sites;
- Sector skills and employability; and
- Quality of place.
