This report summarises the development and testing of the social sustainability assessment tool for the London Borough of Sutton.

The tool measures the social sustainability of Sutton’s neighbourhoods. It intends to help those working within Sutton’s neighbourhoods to help them thrive.

Social Life identify the four dimensions of social sustainability: voice and influence, adaptability and resilience, social and cultural life, and amenities and social infrastructure. The report charts the five key stages involved in carrying out a social sustainability assessment of a neighbourhood and the practical application of this tool to Beddington, Sutton.
